Using the Brisk Extension to provide personalized feedback for students.
Last school year, I vented to a fellow teacher that I was struggling to provide positive feedback for a student (don’t judge me, we all have those mental blocks). I told them that after looking at 30+ written responses, my brain could not find the good in what a student wrote (but I knew it was there). Then I had an “a-ha” moment. I could let Brisk AI point out the good in what the student wrote, and then I could tailor the positive feedback for the student.
Providing feedback for students is a time-consuming but worthy endeavor.
Feedback should be:
Clear, specific, and timely communication
Informative of current performance level
Providing actionable steps for improvement
Aligned with individual abilities and established standards
Promoting self-reflection
Using rubrics or assessment tools for transparency
Building student confidence
Fostering independent learning
The Brisk extension is a tool that suggests feedback that a teacher can tailor and use for individual students without having to spend time typing out feedback. Think of Brisk as your AI teacher assistant.
Disclaimer: It may be able to provide good feedback, but you are still the expert and know your students. I do NOT believe that Brisk is a substitute for you, nor should the feedback be copied and pasted directly to your students without tailoring. Sometimes, AI gets it wrong by providing feedback that is irrelevant or doesn’t match your expectations. Therefore, use it with caution.
