How to upload a rubric from Google Sheets/Excel to Canvas

I have found that Canvas’ rubric creator is clunky and time-consuming. However, having your rubrics in Canvas makes grading much easier.

Thanks to other educators, there is a way to create a rubric in Google Sheets (or another spreadsheet program) and quickly import it into Canvas.

Old-school Canvas users might remember that importing rubrics was an option built into Canvas. I am unsure why it was removed, but thankfully there is a workaround.

I “pirated” my knowledge from this Instructure Community Page, but I found its instructions hard to follow. Below you will find a simple order of steps to follow to simplify your process.

One more note: I recommend checking out my other post on how to create a rubric in ChatGPT. I use AI to save time and amplify my rubrics. Using ChatGPT along with these steps should save you a lot of time.
